AVP, Affluent Personal Lines (Hybrid - Central NJ)
About the role
The Assistant Vice President will oversee multiple complex clients, manage relationships with key stakeholders and carriers, ensure policy compliance, and handle human resources functions. This role requires a hybrid schedule with at least 2-3 days a week in the Berkeley Heights, NJ office.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with complex and large clients
- Act as the subject matter expert on Property & Casualty and carrier products and services
- Maintain and manage solid relationships with clients and carrier sales representatives
- Negotiate with carriers for the best possible result
- Work with internal and external centers of influence to develop relationships
- Work with the Senior Leadership team to develop regional client deliverables
- Ensure deliverables are executed within the local office(s) and that they are complete, accurate, and conform to NFP standards
- Make adjustments as necessary
- Attend renewal and strategy meetings with high-profile or difficult clients
- Manage team structure and monitor team workload to determine capacity to take on new clients
Requirements
- Must be able to work a hybrid schedule from our Berkeley Heights, NJ office
- Must have Personal Lines and High Net Worth/Private Client Group (PCG) client coverage experience
- P&C Account/Client Management experience with a retail brokerage or independent agency
- Familiarity with major markets, such as AIG, Chubb/ACE, PURE, BerkleyOne and Cincinnati
- Must be able to read, analyze, and reconcile financial reports
- Highly professional and self-motivated
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with clients, colleagues, and carriers and interact with a variety of people/personalities
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Possess technical expertise plus solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written communication skills – writes clearly; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numeric data effectively
- Self-confident to make sound independent decisions and demonstrate strong leadership skills
- Ability to handle situations in a calm, courteous and professional manner
Qualifications
- More than 10 years of Personal Lines industry and product line experience with extensive High Net Worth Account/Client Management experience
- This must include experience at an independent agency or retail insurance brokerage
- A familiarity with the major markets as mentioned above, a familiarity with carriers such as Travelers and Progressive as well as The National Flood Ins. Program
- Leadership and Supervisory experience including training or mentorship
- Experience with an agency management system/CRM is required
- Fluency with Epic is a plus
- A bachelor’s degree preferred
- HS Diploma or GED is required with additional learning/certifications
Skills
- P&C Insurance License required upon hire
- CIC, CPCU or other P&C designation preferred

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $90,000 – $140,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
Schedule
This is a full-time role with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule of at least 2-3 days a week from our Berkeley Heights, NJ office and other days from home.
