Avionics Technician II - A

6-month on-site contract position in Kent, WA.

About the role

Provides hands-on support to Engineering, Production, and Manufacturing by performing activities such as test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electro/mechanical systems. Applications include electronic circuits, power distribution, life/vehicle-critical safety systems, and battery systems. Work is performed from schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, or layouts to test, troubleshoot, and isolate faults. Assists in determining methods to remedy malfunctions. Work environments include laboratories, manufacturing floors, and vehicles.

A focus on safety, collaborative teamwork, and quality supports the creation of high-quality components for safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

• Build components and assemblies in development, test, and flight environments.
• Assist with assembly of new and updated designs by collaborating with engineering to determine best practices.
• Provide input on manufacturing improvements or build changes to enhance assembly efficiency.
• Support internal and external customers across multiple systems and platforms.
• Apply torque to fasteners and components.
• Fabricate, terminate, and repair/test wire harnesses.
• Inspect and certify work to relevant standards and specifications.
• Document non-conformances and perform dispositioned repairs.

Requirements

• Familiarity with ESD EPA and tool control/accountability processes.
• Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering, and basic electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, power supplies).
• 3+ years of experience in aerospace avionics or related fields.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work a 40-hour work week (4x10’s) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules.
• Experience with application and removal of polymerics (e.g., staking, potting, encapsulation, conformal coating).

Preferred Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly, fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair, or component replacement.
• Experience with energized power/high-voltage systems, battery systems, or RF assemblies.
• Certification in or knowledge of IPC standards (e.g., J-STD, 610, 7711/7721 Rework, 620/620 Space Addendum).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic work orders, and configuration management systems.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
