About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Avionics Technician responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of aircraft avionics and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and test aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret technical documents, including wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, engineering drawings, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
  • Build and repair wiring harnesses using standard aircraft wiring practices, including soldering and crimping.
  • Perform 24-month inspections and certifications in accordance with FAR Part 91.411 and 91.413.
  • Perform avionics modifications, upgrades, and equipment installations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft flight simulators.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
  • Complete accurate maintenance documentation and required paperwork.
  • Maintain a basic set of hand tools.
  • Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned, including those outlined in the Repair Station Manual.
  • Maintain flexibility to work various shifts as operational needs require.

Requirements

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred.
  • FCC License is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 consecutive years of recent avionics maintenance experience.
  • Experience performing FAR Part 91.411 and 91.413 inspections and recertifications is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of Garmin G1000 avionics experience.
  • Experience working on Piper aircraft preferred.
  • Experience in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of AC 43.13 standard aircraft wiring practices.
  • Familiarity with ground support equipment, avionics test equipment, and maintenance tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Work Environment

  • Operate general office equipment, including computers, copiers, and printers.
  • Operate company vehicles such as vans, trucks, golf carts, and aircraft as required.
  • Utilize various aviation maintenance tools, shop equipment, and test equipment.
  • Work around aviation fuel, solvents, and other maintenance-related materials.
  • Perform duties in both indoor and outdoor maintenance environments with regular exposure to aircraft and flight simulators.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Frequent exposure to aircraft, simulators, maintenance equipment, and changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop, and work in confined areas for extended periods.
