Full Time On-Site position in Reading, PA, USA.

About the role

West Star is the fastest growing maintenance repair organization in the industry. Our Avionics Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems to the component level on avionics units (i.e. Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio and Autopilot Systems), as well as the aircraft systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general avionics support items on aircraft, including removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate systems on the aircraft when designated.
  • Inspect and evaluate the aircraft and components when designated.
  • Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment, and tooling to support operations.
  • Work with customer in project management, pricing, and customer support roles.
  • Work independently on projects.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
  • 1+ years of experience on Avionics repair or installations is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and deal with customers professionally.
  • Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work.
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each day.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
  • Basic computer skills.

Mental Requirements

  • Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate, and perform functional tests for various avionics and instrument systems.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
  • Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used: Personal hand tools, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment, jacks, stands, lifts, tugs, power carts, crimpers, soldering iron, heat guns, personal computer, and work order prints.
