Avionics Software Engineer (DO-178 + US Citizen Required)

About the role

Join a growing engineering team developing next-generation aerospace and flight systems. The ideal candidate will have experience developing safety-critical avionics software and a strong understanding of aerospace software development standards. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, develop, test, and integrate embedded software supporting advanced flight systems in a 3-day-a-week hybrid role based in Phoenix, AZ. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain avionics software for aerospace applications.
• Develop software in accordance with DO-178 processes and certification requirements.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, and test engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in software architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and verification activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects while supporting system integration efforts.
• Create and maintain technical documentation to support software development and certification.
• Ensure software meets performance, reliability, and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent software development experience.
• Experience developing avionics software in accordance with DO-178 standards.
• Proficiency in C and/or C++ programming.
• Experience with Flight Controls or Flight Management Systems (FMS).
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and engineering best practices.
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or protected under U.S. asylum/refugee laws) due to U.S. export control compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing embedded software.
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded hardware.
• Experience working within regulated aerospace or defense environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment.

Pay

$75,000 – $145,000, depending on experience.

Schedule

Hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite per week).
