Avionics Maintenance Technician - Weekend Shift - 1542

Full Time On-Site position in Chattanooga, TN, USA.

Our weekend Shift schedule is Friday-Sunday, 6am-6:30pm. The shift incentive includes an 11.11% shift differential and a 3-day workweek.

Responsibilities

• Perform general avionics support items on aircraft, including removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
• Troubleshoot and evaluate systems on the aircraft when designated.
• Inspect and evaluate the aircraft and components when designated.
• Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems.
• Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment, and tooling to support operations.
• Work with customers in project management, pricing, and customer support roles.
• Work independently on projects.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
• Effectively and clearly communicate (speak, write, read) in English.
• Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
• Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
• Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work.
• Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
• Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
• Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory.

Experience

• Tech I: 0-2 years of experience in avionics, military avionics, or electrical field. Requires close supervision and constant check-ins on work performance.
• Tech II: 2-4 years of experience in avionics or military avionics field. Considerable knowledge of the job with a broad understanding of detailed aspects. Requires general supervision and instructions.
• Tech III: 4-6 years of experience in avionics or military avionics field. Full knowledge of the job and complete understanding of detailed aspects. Limited supervision is required; no instruction needed and can act as a trainer or mentor.
• Master Technician: 6+ years of experience with corporate/business avionics systems. Exclusive knowledge in all areas of the job; a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge.

Initiative

• Self-motivated team player able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
• Ability to work with customers and perform duties with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

• Lift 50 lbs.
• Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
• Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
• Standing for long periods of time.
• Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
• Basic computer skills.

Mental Requirements

• Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot, evaluate, and perform functional tests for various avionics and instrument systems.
• Work with others in a professional manner.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations (very cold to very hot).
• Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
• Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
• Work under the supervision of an assigned Avionics Team Leader.

• Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
• Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
• Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
• Crimpers, soldering iron, and heat guns.
• Personal computer and work order prints.
