What You'll Do
As a Harness Design Engineer II on the Avionics team, you will contribute to harness design and integration activities from conceptual design to system integration – including component selection, process development, qualification, and production. By demonstrating proficiency in all phases of harness design, this interdisciplinary role offers growth opportunities and exposure to subsystem- and system-level design through collaboration with cross-disciplinary stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 2-3 years of professional experience in wire harness design, electrical systems design, or hands on harness manufacturing.
- Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics and mechanical layout drawings.
- Understanding of wire gauge selection, current carrying capacity, and voltage drop calculations.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar) for harness design and routing.
- Experience creating wiring diagrams, routing in 3D, and producing 2D drawings for production harnesses.
- Able to generate and maintain accurate technical documentation in accordance with engineering standards.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical work at design reviews.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and manufacturing/integration personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aerospace, defense, or spacecraft electrical systems.
- Experience with NX CAD software specifically.
- Hands-on experience with development and test harness design for qualification testing.
- Experience developing or contributing to Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Experience designing harness mounts, brackets, and secondary structures.
- Proficiency/certification in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Experience supporting harness production, manufacturing processes, and vehicle integration activities.
- Exposure to R&D investigations or trade studies focused on design optimization, mass reduction, or cost savings.
- Understanding of signal routing optimization techniques.
