Avionics/Electronics Technician II

About the role

The Avionics/Electronic Bench Technician II supports operations at Naval Air Station in New Orleans, LA. This position involves diagnosing and repairing Avionic Test Equipment, observing and training under higher grade workers, and performing various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Avionic Test Equipment
• Observes and trains under higher grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex problems
• Solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications
• Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions
• Disassembles and assembles malfunctioning test equipment accessories and components
• Removes, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, including sandblasting and painting, of malfunctioning test equipment accessories and components
• Schedules and performs unscheduled maintenance on Avionic Test Equipment
• Inspects, tests, and operates Test Equipment to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications
• Stencils and marks Avionic Test Equipment in accordance with technical publications
• Stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations
• Practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times
• Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts
• Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates test results and prepares reports on findings and recommendations

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years' aviation experience in electronics maintenance/repair, or a military equivalent of three (3) years of hands-on experience
• High School diploma or GED
• Graduate from a two (2) year Electronics Technician resident course at an accredited institute
• Able to read and understand aviation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, to include component identification and function
• Able to obtain a Security Clearance for issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC)
• Able to speak, read, and understand English
• Secret Clearance required, must be able to obtain and maintain a secret US government clearance
• US citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance
