About the role
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
Responsibilities
- Engineering, designing, and installing of electrical harnesses for various spaceflight systems.
- Designing harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication, and high-speed data signals.
- Selecting harness components and hardware, including connectors, backshells, cable, and wire.
- Understanding and applying EMI/RFI and harness shielding techniques.
- Creating 3D routed harness data files using Creo (Pro/Engineer) and Cabling and Routed System Designer (RSD).
- Creating harness detail and installation drawings, including 2D flat harness drawings from 3D harness data sets.
- Designing and integrating harness support brackets and support configurations.
- Developing trade studies and providing technical guidance for hardware installation.
- Supporting the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.
- Maintaining and reporting on activity schedules and technical statuses.
- Finding opportunities for improvements and operational cost and schedule savings.
Requirements
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or an appropriate engineering field.
- 7+ years of experience designing wire harnesses for the Aerospace industry.
- Experience with Creo and Windchill and Routed System Designer (RSD).
- Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
- Familiarity with existing applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4.
- Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software.
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Qualifications
- Passion for Blue Origin’s mission and vision.
- Desired experience with CREO Schematics and/or Piping.
- Experience with other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing.
- Experience with harness fabrication and installation processes.
- Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.
Skills
- Creo and Windchill and Routed System Designer (RSD) proficiency.
- Wire derating analysis knowledge.
- Understanding of harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4.
- Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills.
- Experience with harness fabrication and installation processes.
- Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.

Pay
Base Pay Range For WA applicants is $130,706.00 - $182,987.70. Other site ranges may differ.
