Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and validate aircraft-, system-, and component-level requirements
- Generate and maintain requirements aligned with customer, regulatory, and certification needs
- Ensure bidirectional traceability between requirements, verification methods, and compliance evidence
- Manage requirements within an ALM environment (e.g., Polarion)
- Provide critical design feedback related to safety, requirements completeness, and verification readiness
- Apply SAE ARP4754A and ARP4761 processes throughout the system lifecycle
- Support and contribute to Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and FMEA
- Interface with certification engineers and DERs to support FAA approval activities
- Support certification programs under Part 23 / 27 / 33, including electric propulsion systems
- Author, execute, and maintain verification plans, procedures, and test reports
- Define and execute requirements-based test strategies at the appropriate level (Component, System, Aircraft)
- Coordinate and execute lab, integration, and system-level tests
- Verify systems such as:
- Vibrations, airframe, fuselage
- Interiors
- Doors & Transparencies
- Cabin Equipment
- Environmental Control Systems
- Interior Lighting
- Smoke Detection Systems
- etc.
- Ensure verification activities align with overall certification schedules
- Track and report verification status keeping traceability to support program management decisions
- Perform system behavior modeling to support validation activities
- Support test automation and data analysis where applicable
- Ensure verification deliverables meet certification expectations
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years (up to 15+ preferred) experience on Part 23 or 27 aircraft or rotorcraft programs
- Strong working knowledge of:
- SAE ARP4754A
- SAE ARP4761
- FAA Order 8110.4C
- RTCA DO-160G, DO-331, DO-178C
- Experience with ARP4754A-based verification
- Experience with requirements-based testing and traceability audits
- Proficiency with ALM and verification tools (Polarion, JIRA, Confluence)
- Experience with solid modeling tools (Onshape, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent)
- Comfortable working in a cross-functional, certification-focused environment
- Ability to work fully onsite in Burlington, VT.
Preferred / Above-and-Beyond Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Part 23 Amendment 64
- ASTM F3338
- Part 33 certification or electric propulsion systems
- Familiarity with:
- Polarion ALM
- CATIA
- ANSYS
- Mil-HDBK-217 / Mil-HDBK-21
- Reliability tools (PTC Windchill, Isograph, Relyence)
- Test and automation experience using:
- LabVIEW
- Python or other test automation frameworks
- Background in aerospace verification & validation
- Prior experience in a certifying environment (Part 23, 25, 27, 29, or DO-based programs EASA or FAA)
Tools & Work Environment
- Google G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar, etc.)
- Slack and collaborative engineering workflows
- ALM-driven, traceability-heavy certification environment
Pay
$120,000 - $130,000
