Aviation Safety Inspector (General Aviation-Maintenance) (Principal Maintenance Inspector)

About the role

This position is within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and involves General Aviation Maintenance work. The role requires specific federal documentation and certifications.

Required Documents

  • For ALL FAA employees: Most recent Notification of Personnel Action (SF-50) containing information in Blocks 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, and 24 to verify position title, series, grade, tenure, and organization of record
  • For General Aviation (Maintenance): FAA Mechanic Certificate with airframe and power plant ratings
  • Certificates and ratings do not need to be submitted from applicants who are currently occupying (or previously held) General Aviation Maintenance 1825 series position
  • Forms may be uploaded to your on-line application or submitted by mail or fax (SF-50 sent via email will not be considered)
  • If faxing, include the vacancy announcement number on the faxed copy
  • FAA employees can access and print SF-50 from the eOPF system: https://eopf.opm.gov/dot/

Education Requirements

If relying on education to meet qualification requirements, education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Provide only attendance and/or degrees from accredited schools.

Application Requirements

  • Resumes are limited to two pages
  • Each work history must include: Job Title (include series and grade if Federal job), relevant work experience aligning to qualifications and specialized experience requirements with employer name, start/end dates, and number of hours worked per week
  • If education, certification or licensure is required: include school/institution name, completion date, degree type and GPA
  • Failure to provide all required information may result in an ineligible rating
  • Apply online; application must be submitted by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the Close Date
  • If applying for positions associated with FAA registers, application must be submitted at the time a referral list is created

Evaluation Process

Applicants may be required to complete one or multiple assessments to evaluate competencies and qualifications essential for the position. Once a complete application is received, the Human Resources Office will conduct an evaluation of qualifications. Eligible and qualified candidates will be referred to the hiring manager for consideration. You will be contacted directly if selected for an interview.
