Aviation Planning Senior/Principal Consultant
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have experience in selling, winning, and managing airport planning projects, such as master plans and on-call contracts, and serving client needs from small to large scale at both general aviation and commercial service airports. The candidate will also have strong communication skills and understanding of aviation planning, environmental planning, sustainability, land use, facility/terminal planning, and commercial development principles. Experience and understanding of FAA policies and standards with relationships with FAA's Western Pacific and/or Northwest Mountain Regions and Airports District Office personnel are also important.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of an on-call contract or specific project from identification of opportunities through project close out.
- Participating in and developing material for proposals and project interviews.
- Determining scope of work.
- Estimating fees.
- Negotiating contracts.
- Budgeting and cost control.
- Scope and schedule control.
- Staff resource management.
- Quality control of all assigned projects.
- Serve as primary client contact.
- Lead public and stakeholder participation sessions.
- Cookordinate efforts with local, state, regional and federal agencies on behalf of clients.
- Maintain current knowledge of aviation industry services, projects, and trends.
- Willingness to travel to client sites across the United States.
- Mentor and coach less experienced staff and contribute to the growth of the Practice on the West Coast in terms of assisting with securing new clients, project types, and staff.
Skills/Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in planning, engineering, or a related field.
- AICP, LEED AP, ENV SP, PE, AAAE CM certification, or pilots license preferred.
- 10+ years of related experience specific to the position.
- Knowledge of FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and its grant processes.
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.
- Leadership experience including business development, aviation industry involvement, project management, and ability to manage and direct others.
Estimated Compensation Range And Benefits
Estimated Compensation Range And Benefits: $150,000 - $195,000/year* Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
