About the role

SOM is a global architecture and engineering firm dedicated to creating sustainable, impactful work through interdisciplinary teams. This role is within the Airport Practice, focusing on terminal building and supporting facilities for both domestic and international projects.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership of architectural project teams, including close collaboration with SOM Partners and project leadership.
  • Preparation and execution of quality agreements with clients, including letters of intent and professional service agreements.
  • Development and coordination of consultant teams, leading responses to RFPs and other solicitations.
  • Management of project schedules, budgets, and program goals, including weekly team meetings and project status updates.
  • Communication with clients and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Initiation and monitoring of project risks through collaboration with SOM Partners and legal counsel.
  • Leading new business and marketing efforts, including proposal preparation and maintenance of firm relationships.
  • Supervision and training of team members, fostering a culture of sustainability and professional development.

Requirements

  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed in state of practice; LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in aviation sector projects and related business development.
  • Strong team abilities and consultant engagement.
  • General understanding of sustainable strategies and principles, including familiarity with LEED or other green building rating systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage project schedule, budget, and program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheets, Adobe Suite, Google Workspace, Revit, and Rhino.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Vision, Salesforce.

Qualifications

  • Passion for excellence, innovation, integrity, inclusivity, and collaboration.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
  • Experience with the end-to-end design process, including cost and schedule management.
  • Understanding of physical characteristics of commercial aircraft and terminal landside facilities.
  • Knowledge of airport planning and layout development.

Pay

$125,000 to $160,000 based on experience, qualifications, location, and education.
