Aviation Civil Engineer Co-op/Intern

Passero Associates' Charlotte, NC Office has an exciting paid Aviation Civil Engineer Co-op/Intern opportunity to work alongside our aviation team on a variety of airport planning, design, and infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on experience supporting projects at commercial, general aviation, and military airports while utilizing the latest industry technologies, including drones, 3D visualization, and virtual reality. Gain valuable experience toward a professional career in civil engineering through collaboration with engineers, planners, surveyors, architects, and aviation professionals on projects that enhance airport safety, operations, and capacity. Responsibilities Assist with the planning and design of airport infrastructure projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, and landside facilitiesSupport the preparation of engineering reports, calculations, specifications, and construction documentsPerform field investigations, site inspections, and data collection at airport facilitiesAssist with FAA grant-funded projects and airport improvement programsUtilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop plans and exhibitsCoordinate with project teams and support project deliverables throughout design and construction phases Qualifications / Experience Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related fieldInterest in aviation engineering, airport design, and transportation infrastructureImmediate availability and/or availability through 2027Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferredPrevious civil engineering co-op, internship, or aviation-related experience is a plusProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookStrong communication and organizational skillsValid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to visit active airport and construction project sites as needed About Passero: founded in 1972, Passero Associates has a staff of more than 180 professionals in nine offices providing high-quality, value-oriented architecture, aviation, civil and structural engineering, planning, transportation, and survey services throughout the northeastern, southeastern, and midwestern United States.
