About the Position

Primary duties of this position include troubleshooting and correcting routine issues with audio/video hardware and software. Responding to emergency calls for assistance in the classrooms in a timely manner and providing on-campus event support. Assisting customers (Faculty, Staff, Students and guests of the University) with technology questions or issues concerning A/V equipment. This position is responsible for prioritizing requests for assistance, providing documentation as needed for customers on use of A/V hardware and software, and consulting with customers to help determine technology needs as well as maintaining accurate inventory records for all campus AV equipment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to requests from the SMU community for assistance with AV equipment in classrooms, conference rooms, and campus events.
• Support team projects, including installations, documentation, inventory management, and system testing.
• Participate in career development activities to expand knowledge through technical and professional training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Assist staff with evening and weekend work, including availability on either Saturday or Sunday.

Requirements

• A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience providing A/V technology support and customer support is required.

• Advanced understanding of the components used in A/V systems (including controllers, switchers, projectors, cameras, speaker connections, etc.) and other equipment used in classroom and meeting room environments.
• Advanced knowledge of setup and use of videoconferencing equipment.
