About the role

The primary duties involve the maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment used in the operation of a national cemetery. Equipment maintained includes pickup trucks, dump trucks, back hoes, tractors, riding and push mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, and similar equipment. Position also includes Cemetery Caretaker duties as assigned, which include interment and grounds maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a variety of equipment used in the operation of a national cemetery, including pickup trucks, dump trucks, back hoes, tractors, riding and push mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, and similar equipment.
• Operate, use test equipment and tools such as wrenches, sockets, brake tools, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
• Perform maintenance repair work on automotive type vehicles and a wide variety of engineering and grounds equipment.
• Assist the automotive mechanic in performing Fleet Manager duties.

Requirements

• May be required to work Monday through Friday to include occasional weekends.
• May be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery.
• Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Must demonstrate the potential to perform maintenance and repairs on automotive, engineering, and groundskeeping equipment, as well as conduct preventive maintenance on facilities and infrastructure.
