Automotive Technician Senior Level

Torque by Ryder is hiring a permanent full-time Senior Automotive Technician to support a truck fleet in Charlotte, NC. The role involves complex diagnosis, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance for non-contractual customers, with potential mobile service travel within the assigned region (10–20% travel).

Pay

• Hourly rate: $36.50 per hour (based on experience)
• Retention bonus: $2,000 paid quarterly during the first year

Responsibilities

• Perform complex diagnosis, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance for non-contractual customers
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance including tune-ups, oil changes, tire changes, fuel filter changes, fluid checks, alignments, basic suspension replacement, and light and mirror replacements
• Diagnose, repair, or replace engines including alternators, starters, radiators, injectors, transmissions, and other fuel components
• Conduct hydraulic brake inspections, repairs, and replacements
• Operate out of a mobile maintenance vehicle and travel to customer yards within assigned region
• Possess general knowledge and understanding of Torque products and services
• Represent Torque/Ryder to establish customer relationships
• Utilize key functions of Salesforce and electronic documentation
• Ensure proper documentation of work orders, customer repair authorizations, and repair notes in Salesforce
• Perform environmental duties such as site inspections, site clean-ups/disposals, and vehicle chemical handling with guidance
• Work in accordance with all federal, regional, and corporate compliance guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Professional diploma preferred
• 4+ years of combined classroom training and work experience
• Non-Commercial Driver License CLASS E required
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
• State driver's license as required
• Ability to understand and adhere to company policies in all areas
• Create and maintain professional relationships across all organizational levels

• Demonstrate customer service skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills

• Must pass: Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder Background & Motor Vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)

• Preventive Maintenance (PM230 & PM298) within 90 days
• Brakes-Air (BA220 & BA298) within 90 days
• Brake mechanics/inspectors FMCS 396.25
• Hydraulic Brake (BH220 & BH298) where appropriate within 90 days
• Tire & Wheel (TW220) within 90 days
• CF609 & A/C trained and qualified (AC220 & AC298) within 180 days
• Battery Charge and Check, Warranty HD electrical (DR208) within 90 days
• Svc Island Support SBTIII trained (SBT220) and SBT Phase 2 within 180 days
• OEM on-line engine courses (minimum 2)
