Automotive Technician/Mechanic

About the role

Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is seeking a skilled Fleet Technician (Automotive Technician) in Durham, NC. The role involves timely repair and maintenance of light and medium‑duty fleet vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation, with work primarily at the Durham location plus occasional satellite sites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on light and medium duty vehicles
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare required safety documentation
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies/procedures
• Inspect and perform work on the under‑parts of vehicles
• Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
• Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles
• Maintain general upkeep and maintenance of the Mobile Service Truck
• Respond to off‑site client requests as needed
• Interact with clients via email and phone as necessary
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience performing vehicle maintenance, or an auto/diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school
• Valid driver’s license
• Must provide own hand tools and toolbox

Skills

• Proficient computer skills: Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, Email
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, peer/supervisor communication)
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle to assess proper operation

Pay

Pay range: $32/hour – $38/hour, dependent on experience. Overtime eligible at time‑and‑a‑half. Paid weekly every Friday. Potential new‑hire bonus may be offered.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM. Position based primarily in Durham, NC with occasional satellite locations.
