BCR MECHANIC – LIGHT TRUCK / ENGINE GM Pickup / Gas Engine Mechanic | Light-Duty Truck Repair Bengal Crane & Rigging | BCR Shop / BASF Site Requisition ID: 107097 Department: 02-Serv – BCR Shop Division: BCR Position Type: Full-Time Permanent Schedule: 8–10 hours/day | 5–7 days/week Start Date: ASAP Pay: DOE – based on experience, certifications, and qualifications Per Diem: $30/day when applicable Fuel Pin: Provided Company Vehicle: Not provided Tools: Employee must provide own tools Position Summary Bengal Crane & Rigging is seeking an experienced Light Truck / Engine Mechanic to support our fleet of light-duty and medium-duty pickup trucks. This role is focused heavily on GM-based trucks, including 1500, 2500, and 3500 series pickups, with a strong emphasis on gasoline engine diagnostics and repair, especially GM 5.3L gas engines. This is not a lube-tech-only role and not primarily a heavy diesel mechanic position. We are looking for a mechanic who can think independently, diagnose issues, remove and install engines and transmissions, and complete repairs from start to finish with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with pickup trucks, gasoline engines, drivability issues, diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and general light truck repair. ASE certifications are helpful but not required. The Mechanic reports directly to the Service Manager. Primary Equipment / Vehicle Focus This Role Will Primarily Support GM-based light trucks and pickupsChevrolet / GMC 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucksMostly gasoline engines, including GM 5.3L enginesSome diesel-powered pickup trucksShop support equipment as needed Essential Job Functions Diagnose, service, and repair GM-based light trucks and pickup trucksPerform engine diagnostics, drivability troubleshooting, and mechanical repairsRemove and install engines and transmissions as neededDiagnose and repair gasoline engines, with diesel pickup experience considered a plusTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using diagnostic toolsInspect, diagnose, and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, drivetrain, and related vehicle systemsPerform preventive maintenance inspections and complete timely repairs on identified issuesPerform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, battery service, filters, and minor service work when neededTest drive vehicles to diagnose issues and verify repairsDisassemble, repair, and reassemble engines and components as neededUtilize shop equipment such as lifts, hydraulic jacks, A/C service machines, and diagnostic scannersRead and interpret repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical schematicsInspect parts for wear, damage, and proper tolerances per manufacturer specificationsMaintain accurate service logs and documentation of work performedKeep work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working conditionWork independently on standard repairs and assist with complex repairs as neededFollow all safety procedures, company policies, and applicable driving regulationsPerform additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Shop Foreman and/or Service Manager Requirements Proven experience as a light truck, pickup truck, automotive, or engine mechanicStrong experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline enginesExperience with GM trucks, GM engines, or GM-based drivetrains strongly preferredAbility to remove/install engines and transmissions preferredStrong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systemsAbility to work independently and figure out repair issues without constant supervisionValid Driver's License requiredMVR requiredAbility to meet requirements to operate company light trucksAbility to lift up to 40 lbsMust have own toolsStrong work ethic and commitment to quality repair work Preferred Experience GM 1500 / 2500 / 3500 pickup repair experienceGM 5.3L gas engine experienceGasoline engine diagnosticsEngine replacement / removal / installationTransmission removal / installationElectrical diagnosticsShop foreman, lead mechanic, or independent diagnostic experienceDiesel pickup experience is helpful, but this is not a diesel-only mechanic role Preferred Certifications Certifications are helpful but not required to apply.
