Automotive Technician - Entry Level

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on inventory vehicles.
• Explain automotive repairs and issues to management to minimize re-work and delays in production.
• Properly document all work performed in DriveTime systems.
• Keep work area clean and organized to maintain the highest level of safety and compliance.
• Perform emissions testing (state inspections where applicable), vehicle movement, and inventory management.
• Utilize computer systems for repair documentation and other tasks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Certificate or Associate’s degree in automotive technology or equivalent work experience (2+ years) in automotive repair.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Skills

• Proficient in basic automotive repair.
• Able to meet metric performance targets.
• Able to learn and operate basic computer systems.
• Organized and punctual.
• Maintains a safe and compliant workspace.
• Strong communication skills to present findings and share with leadership.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.
• Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds up to 20 feet.
• Requires standing for extended periods with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, wet, and have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
• Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
• Requires use of safety equipment including face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment.
• Requires some driving and frequent typing.
• Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance.
• Must be able to communicate in English to ensure effective performance in a safety-sensitive/technical environment.

This job position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.
