Job Description

UPS is currently seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join their outstanding fleet maintenance team. The role involves maintaining a diverse range of equipment including delivery vehicles, heavy duty on road tractors and trailers from a variety of manufacturers. The powered vehicle propulsion includes diesel, gasoline, and alternative technology power plants (such as compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electrical in some locations).

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintains compliance with Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) requirements.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, standing, walking, and turning/pivoting throughout the workday.
  • Sitting occasionally throughout the workday.
  • Uses simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete tasks.
  • Operates standard and manual transmissions.
  • Operates power and pneumatic tools.
  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting and maintaining various systems including hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical, and engine control.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Current documented automotive mechanical experience.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers.
  • Possesses full complement of personal hand tools.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Preferred.
  • Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, including Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday as well as Tuesday through Saturday schedules, depending on the location's need.

Other Criteria

  • The starting pay rate for this position is $39.18 per hour.
  • For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
