About the role

UPS is currently seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. You will maintain a diverse range of equipment including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers from a variety of manufacturers. Powered vehicle propulsion includes diesel, gasoline, and alternative technology power plants (including compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electrical in some locations).

Responsibilities

• Meets D.O.T. requirements required by job assignment.
• Performs physical tasks including bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, standing, walking, and turning/pivoting frequently throughout the workday.
• Sits infrequently as required.
• Exercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level.
• Operates standard and manual transmission vehicles, power and pneumatic tools.
• Meets all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified.
• Repairs all UPS diesel and electric vehicles.
• Ensures all vehicles are maintained regularly and in a timely manner.
• Works in variable temperatures and humidity, with exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, noise, outside inclement weather, etc.
• Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment.
• Communicates effectively to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.

Requirements

• Current documented automotive mechanical experience.
• Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers.
• Possesses a full complement of personal hand tools.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) – Preferred.
• Ability to lift 70 lbs./32 kgs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and occasionally outdoors.
• Must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, including Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Saturday schedules, depending on location needs.
• Works full-time shifts: 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days per 7-day week.
• Dependable with the ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete scheduled workdays consistently.
• Available to work varying shifts, additional hours, and/or overtime depending on service needs.
• Wears personal protective equipment as required.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.

Pay

The starting pay for this position is $39.92 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Schedule

• 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days per 7-day week.
• Varying shifts including 2nd or 3rd shifts, Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Saturday, depending on location needs.
• Availability for additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs.
