About the role
Transdev in Sumter, SC is seeking an Auto Mechanic I to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining engines across various vehicles and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and replacements on gas & diesel engines, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Aid in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.
- Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize vehicle performance.
- Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for gas and diesel engines.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as an Automotive Mechanic.
- ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.
- Mechanic’s Tool Set.
- Ability to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions - 100% of the job is performed in a shop, work alone and in remote locations.
- Stand for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
- Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to file or equipment stored at ground level.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
