Responsibilities
- Inspecting and testing vehicles to trace faults in their parts or mechanisms.
- Performing routine maintenance work, which may involve replacing fluids, lubricating components, etc.
- Repairing or replacing broken or dysfunctional parts of a vehicle and fixing system failures.
- Advising motorists on good vehicle use to prevent the damage of parts or system malfunctions.
- Maintaining equipment, making sure it’s in a good condition to solve vehicle problems efficiently.
- Providing accurate estimates for a repair or maintenance job and keeping logs on work and issues.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma is required; however, a post-secondary degree in automotive service technology is preferred.
- Proven experience as an auto mechanic, with demonstrated expertise in auto electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods.
- Valid certification from an automotive technical training institution would be an advantage.
- Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers, pliers) and precision measurement tools (calipers, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- A valid drivers license.
