Automotive Teacher, RSTA/CRLS

About the Role

This is a 10-month, school-year teaching position working with a diverse student population in an urban setting beginning September 2025. The Automotive Technology Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing a Chapter 74-based curriculum to integrate career and technical education for Automotive Technology students in grades 9-12, covering all aspects of the Automotive Technology industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach a Chapter 74-compliant curriculum that prepares students for careers in Automotive Technology.
• Perform standard teaching duties, including maintaining attendance, grades, and other faculty responsibilities.
• Implement curriculum to ensure students meet requirements for further education and employment in the Automotive Technology industry.
• Teach a diverse student population, including English language learners and students with disabilities.
• Plan and implement upgrades to Automotive Technology equipment to reflect industry trends and standards.
• Maintain all Automotive Technology equipment in good working order.
• Procure and manage supplies to meet instructional and production demands.
• Ensure instruction and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Establish and meet business objectives for the Automotive Technology program.
• Collaborate with an active Program Advisory Committee that meets at least twice annually.
• Teach the OSHA 10-hour course.
• Perform other essential duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Requirements

• Clear understanding of G.L. Chapter 74 regulations.
• Thorough knowledge of teaching competencies and standards of the Automotive Technology Frameworks.
• Five (5) years of full-time employment experience directly related to Automotive Technology.
• Successful experience with and/or a strong commitment to Cultural Proficiency and the success of all students in a diverse urban population.
• Demonstrated ability to modify instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those with limited English proficiency and disabilities.
• Experience training students for eligibility for the OSHA 10-hour card.
• Current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in at least three areas of automotive technology.
• MA DESE CVTE License: Automotive Technology Teacher (required or eligible for it).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
