Automotive Service Technician
Position Summary
The Experienced / Certified Automotive Technician is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services in accordance with manufacturer standards and Tom Wood quality expectations. This role is ideal for technicians who take pride in technical excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement, and who want longterm career growth within a respected dealer group.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify potential issues early
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems with accuracy
- Perform accurate diagnostics and complex mechanical and electrical repairs
- Repair engines, transmissions, drive trains, suspension, steering, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems
- Follow OEM repair procedures and dealership quality standards
- Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation in the dealer management system
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding repair needs and recommendations
- Stay current with evolving automotive technologies, tools, and repair techniques through training and certification programs
- Deliver high-quality workmanship that meets or exceeds manufacturer standards
- Support shop efficiency by working collaboratively with teammates
- Mentor or support junior technicians as needed
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of handson automotive technician experience (preferred)
- OEM certification(s) and/or ASE certifications strongly preferred
- Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
- Experience with modern diagnostic tools and repair software
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs
- Ability to work efficiently in a fastpaced service environment
- Familiarity with shop equipment (alignment systems, tire machines, diagnostic tools, AC service equipment)
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning
