Automotive Service Technician

About the role

LeadCar Honda Hamburg is seeking an Automotive Service Technician (Honda) to join their team. With a legacy dating back to 1933, the team has a strong reputation for quality in the Hamburg area and central Pennsylvania. The Service Technician will diagnose, repair, and service vehicles in accordance with store and manufacturer standards, with a focus on Honda vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and services as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following company and manufacturer standards.
• Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
• Communicate with the parts department to obtain required parts.
• Save and tag parts if under warranty or requested by the customer.
• Examine assigned vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicate with the Service Advisor if additional work is needed, if outlined work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Accurately record time spent on repairs using company time-clocking procedures.
• Road test vehicles when required to ensure quality of repair work.
• Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Stay current with manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Report machinery defects or malfunctions to direct supervisor.
• Ensure customer and company vehicles are kept clean.
• Notify the Service Writer of any changes to the vehicle’s appearance or condition.
• Maintain an inventory of standard mechanic’s tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammers, chisels, punches).
• Understand, comply with, and stay current on federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, and other safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Technical or trade school degree required, or minimum three years of automotive repair experience required.
• Acquire and maintain manufacturer certifications by completing required training.
• European diesel experience preferred.
• Ability to work on and repair multiple makes of vehicles.
• Ability to operate a wide variety of vehicles, including automatic and manual transmissions.
• Manual dexterity, good judgment, and ability to safely and efficiently operate power and hand tools and other machinery.
• Ability to work successfully on a flat-rate pay system.
• Willingness to travel to relevant training courses.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record for occasional travel requirements.
