This position acts as a liaison between the customer and all internal departments to ensure customer expectations are met regarding cost, quality, delivery, and service. The role guides and manages programs for Design, Development, APQP, and overall program success. This is a temporary position with an employment length of approximately one and a half years.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain information from manufacturing, quality, internal engineering, customer engineering, purchasing, and sales associates to provide optimal proposals to customers.
  • Place all new tooling and fixture builds and manage all mechanical design functions and tooling program management.
  • Schedule all samples and provide support at all stages of the process.
  • Communicate and document pertinent set-up and processing information to molding technicians.
  • Oversee updating of engineering print files and revisions to engineering prints, as well as reviewing and updating standards for accuracy and reducing manufacturing variances.
  • Manage all assigned programs and provide status reports on all activities as directed.
  • Provide proposals for annual continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Interact with manufacturing personnel to establish standard processes ensuring customer expectations are met and provide ongoing support for production requirements.
  • Establish all quality plans for each part (FMEAs, Control Plans, Work Instructions, Work Cell Layouts, and PPAPs) and lead cross-functional teams to complete documents.
  • Pursue continuous education related to current and new tooling, machinery, materials, and processing.
  • Travel to customer and vendor locations or other Flambeau facilities.
  • Use CAD software for viewing and analyzing part designs for manufacturability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering is desired; equivalent combination of education and business experience will be considered.
  • Experience in Engineering Project Management preferred.
  • Experience in Plastic Processing and Manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience in the Automotive Industry required.
  • Experience in SolidWorks and CATIA preferred.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of injection/blow molding process and materials.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Understanding of mold and fixture design, build, and construction.
  • Ability to read prints and support Quality Engineering with layouts and GD&T understanding.
