About the role

Amentum is seeking a Painter, Automotive to join our team in San Diego, California.

Responsibilities

  • Coats surfaces of contract units with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices.
  • Removes old paint using liquid paint remover and scraper or plastic/sand media blasting techniques.
  • Smothers surface with sandpaper and steel wool.
  • Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surface and provides corrosion control methods to customer specifications.
  • Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted.
  • Paints insignia, letters or numerals on vehicle surface, using stencils.
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have three (3) years of recent experience in the maintenance, overhaul and painting/depainting of contract unit equipment.
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a Normal Color Vision test.
  • Must be able to pass a PFT and Respirator Fit test.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass and maintain any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is required.
  • May be required to pass a U.S. Government background security check.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Be proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.

  • Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or fee; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $28.43 per hour. Plus $7.75 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, for Health & Welfare.
