About the role

The Automotive Mechanic Senior will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. This position mentors and oversees team members' technical deliverables to ensure Roush and customer standards are met. Located in Allen Park, MI.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections
• Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components
• Read, interpret, and follow service procedures
• Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and serve as a subject matter expert to assist the team and customer
• Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders
• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
• Assist with daily shop organization and clean-up

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• US citizen
• Minimum of 8 years of work experience as a mechanic
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment
• Good attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and able to mentor and train others
• Own tools with rolling toolbox
• Ability to work overtime and weekends
• Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to travel up to 30 percent
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate in Automotive Technology or related field
• State Mechanic Certification(s)
• Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines, and balancers
