About the role

The High Value Core (HVC) Parts Handler performs day-to-day activities in the Production Yard or Warehouse, ensuring compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local standards. The role may be directed by the Production/Yard Leader to handle parts safely, efficiently, and properly.

Responsibilities

  • Safely maneuver around the yard or warehouse.
  • Find and retrieve parts.
  • Package parts for delivery or preparation.
  • Complete any paperwork associated with parts.
  • Pull work orders.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to remove parts from vehicles.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts) or order pickers.
  • Pull and prep sheet metal and other orders.
  • Tag all parts properly for their destination.
  • Communicate with Sales and Dispatch.
  • Maintain a positive and friendly attitude and appropriate behavior during work hours.
  • Ensure cleanliness in the work area.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of automotive parts (preferred).

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.
  • Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, and graphics software.
  • Basic oral and written communication skills, including writing brief messages, keeping simple records, and explaining routine procedures.
  • Ability to solve routine, repetitive problems by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Decision-making generally affects one’s own job or assigned functional area.
  • Work is guided by defined results and existing practices, with close supervision providing broad direction.
  • Prioritize assigned and routine tasks effectively.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds; may be asked to lift up to 100 pounds on occasion.
  • May be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, or equipment, including cramped spaces or awkward positions under vehicles.
  • Regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
  • Periodic travel, including overnight stays, may be required (contingent on position requirements).
