About the role
The Mechanic 1st Class is responsible for the upkeep and repair of a wide array of equipment, including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty machinery, on-road tractors, and trailers from different manufacturers. They specialize in diagnosing and fixing issues with hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electronic systems, and engines. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
- Repairs gas and diesel vehicles.
- Operates standard and manual transmission.
- Operates power and pneumatic tools.
- Ensures all vehicles are maintained regularly and in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout the workday.
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in fleet repair, preventive maintenance, and electrical diagnostics for heavy-duty vehicles.
- Ability to lift 70 lbs./32 kgs.
Requirements
- Must have an active driver’s license issued by the state.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must be willing to work 6:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m. shift, Monday-Friday.
- Must possess the required hand tools to perform the applicable job assignment.
- Meets D.O.T. requirements required by job assignment.
- CDL Class A or B – Preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
- Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself.
Pay
The starting pay for this position is $39.92 per hour with a one-year progression to top pay of $46.97 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
Schedule
6:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m., Monday-Friday.
