About the role
A vacancy exists in the Office of Budget and Finance, Vehicle Operations and Maintenance Division.
Responsibilities
- Performs a full range of skilled diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on automobiles, light trucks, and related equipment.
- Scheduled automotive preventive maintenance and service, such as engine oil and filter changes, chassis lubrications, engine tune-ups, and the replacement of tires, batteries, belts, hoses, and lights.
- Diagnoses automotive malfunctions.
- Inspects, adjusts, repairs, and replaces various automotive components and systems such as brakes, ignitions, exhaust systems, and suspensions.
- Repairs and replaces starters, alternators, generators, and other electronic automotive components.
- Repairs automotive air conditioning, heating, and cooling systems.
- Performs front end alignments.
- Prepares new vehicles for police service by installing specialized equipment such as cages, overhead lights, gun racks, and identification decals.
- Operates equipment to tow disabled vehicles to the shop.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Three years' automotive repair and maintenance experience. (Related training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
- Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial class C, Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment. Some positions may require possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a commercial, class B Maryland driver's license and a current Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
