Automotive Key Technician
About the role
Join Car Keys Express (CKE), the world’s first online retailer of automotive keys and remotes, and the largest single-vendor solution for replacement keys and automotive reconditioning. As a Mobile Technician, you’ll support, grow, and maintain business relationships with dealerships and fleet operations in your metro area. You’ll develop and maintain a weekly sales route to maximize profits, manage inventory, maintain a company vehicle, and keep accurate logs of sales stops.
This role is ideal for car enthusiasts who enjoy driving to dealerships, auto auctions, and other locations to make keys for a variety of vehicles. Candidates with 2-5 years of experience in automotive, cable installation, route sales, or related fields are a great fit.
Responsibilities
- Support and grow business relationships with dealerships and fleet operations.
- Develop and maintain a weekly sales route in your territory to maximize profits.
- Manage inventory and maintain a company-provided vehicle.
- Conduct audits and maintain accurate logs of sales stops.
- Perform key programming and automotive reconditioning tasks, including disconnecting batteries, removing panels, and plugging into vehicles for diagnostics.
- Work in all weather conditions and lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, squat, and stand for extended periods.
- Enter and exit elevated van doors 30-40 times daily and lift car hoods.
- Engage in cold and warm outreach to dealership staff, UCMs, and sales managers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 21 years of age with a valid Driver’s license.
- 2-5 years of experience in automotive, cable installation, route sales, or related fields.
- Sales and customer service experience (commission-based sales experience preferred).
- Ability to work remotely without constant supervision.
- Familiarity with computers, email, and navigating the internet.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Safe place to park a company van.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, squat, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfort driving a full-size company van.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Pay
Compensation includes salary, commission, and bonus.
- Year 1 average: $62,440 per year.
- Average after the first year: $81,320 per year.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, business hours. Long days may be required.
