Automotive Key Technician
About the Role
Join Car Keys Express (CKE), the world’s first online retailer of automotive keys and remotes, and the largest single-vendor solution for replacement keys and automotive reconditioning. As a Mobile Technician, you’ll drive to dealerships, auto auctions, and other locations to make keys for a variety of vehicles. This role offers a Monday through Friday schedule, a company-provided vehicle (with no out-of-pocket expenses beyond personal attire), a laptop, phone, and a competitive compensation package.
Responsibilities
- Support, grow, and maintain business relationships with dealerships and fleet operations in your metro area.
- Develop and maintain a weekly sales route in your territory to maximize profits.
- Manage inventory, maintain a company vehicle, conduct audits, and keep accurate logs of sales stops.
- Perform hands-on automotive tasks such as disconnecting batteries, removing panels, and plugging into vehicles for diagnostics.
- Work in all weather conditions and physical environments, including lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, stooping, and standing.
- Enter and exit elevated van doors 30-40 times daily and lift car hoods.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in automotive, cable installation, route sales, or related fields.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to work remotely without constant supervision.
- Familiarity with computers, email, and internet navigation.
- Safe place to park the company van.
- Comfort driving a full-size company van.

- Seeking a predictable, desk-bound 9-to-5 schedule.
- Sensitive to working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Averse to sales, prospecting, pitching, or follow-ups.
- Opposed to extended driving or uncomfortable operating a large vehicle.
- Disconnected from automotive tasks like disconnecting batteries or diagnostics.

Pay
Compensation includes salary, commission, and bonus.
- Year 1 average: $62,440/year.
- Average after the first year: $81,320/year.
