Automotive Detailer - Car Washer - Dulles Airport

About the role

We are seeking a responsible, dedicated Automotive Detailer to join our team at Washington Dulles Airport (IAD) in Sterling, VA 20166. This full-time position leads our commitment to exceptional cleaning practices, ensuring the health and safety of everyone by washing, cleaning, sanitizing, inspecting, and preparing a variety of vehicles—including cars, trucks, and vans—to meet high cleanliness and safety standards for customer rentals.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, vacuum, and prepare vehicle interior according to industry-standard protocols
• Wash, clean, and dry the vehicle's exterior, including cars of different sizes, vans, and trucks
• Check fuel level and warning lights; inspect windshield for damage
• Factory reset/restore vehicle settings to clear prior customer data
• Check for customer items and place anything of value in Lost & Found
• Verify that registration is present, current, and matches the license plate
• Check fluid levels and add as needed; inspect tire condition, pressure, and tread depth
• Inspect vehicle exterior for damage
• Fuel and stage vehicle
• Inspect vehicle for any safety concerns; report warning lights, vehicle/windshield/tire damage
• Pull vehicle out of the prep processing as necessary
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area; report any unsafe or hazardous conditions
• Operate tools such as carpet shampoo machines or air purifiers to eliminate stains, pet hair, and odors
• Assist customers when needed; may transport customers to and from branches
• Help maintain overall site appearance, including cleaning interiors and exteriors of branch locations (e.g., desktops, countertops, phones, floors, trash, bathrooms, vacuuming, sweeping the lot)
• Perform miscellaneous tasks related to daily cleanliness of the branch location
• Seek to improve job performance through self-assessment, skill development, training, and goal setting
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• Satisfactory background check, including driving record (no more than 2 moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past 3 years, and no DUI or DWI in the last 3 years), employment reference, education, and social security verification
• At least six (6) consecutive months of prior work or organizational experience
• Under 25-minute commute (in rush hour traffic) from the location preferred
• At least 18 years old
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship now or in the future
• We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories as required by applicable law

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Consistent schedule with the following options:
  • Sunday–Thursday: 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm
  • Wednesday–Sunday: 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm
  • Friday–Tuesday: 2:30 pm – 12:00 am

Pay

$17.50 per hour
