Automotive and Heavy Duty Body (Collision) Shop Technician
Full Job Details
- Familiar with the precise disassembly, repair, painting and reassembly of all damaged parts
- Displays skill using a cutting torch and minor welding
- Must comply with all safety protocols to include wearing protective gear and maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Must be able to communicate professionally with both internal and external customers
- Must be able to perform with a great attention to detail
- Must be a self-starter and able to work to a schedule
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Experience in auto body repair to include frame, panel, filler and paint finish, sand blasting is preferred
- Good general knowledge of paint and paint application
- Experience with use of gravity HVLP and pressure pot painting systems preferred
- Good mechanical skills such as but not limited to welding, fabrication, etc.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills
- Provides positive interaction with peers, leaders and internal customers
- Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detail
- The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities, meet assigned deadlines, and manage the related stress
- Have the desire to learn shop procedures and technical information, take initiative
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Some class A/B technical school or BOCES experience is desirable
- Some experience working on automobiles, farm equipment or construction equipment
- Own basic set of tools
- Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance
- Must be able to wear a respirator
- Must be on time for all scheduled shifts and work all scheduled days
