Automine Electrician
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Automine systems including onboard equipment, communication networks, control systems, sensors, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve faults related to automation systems, including PLCs, communication networks, and mobile equipment interfaces.
- Execute and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs specific to Automine systems to ensure reliability and compliance with OEM and site standards.
- Respond to Automine system breakdowns and minimize downtime impacting production.
- Act as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all Automine-related electrical work.
- Ensure system integrity by controlling and limiting access to Automine systems to trained personnel only.
- Identify recurring faults and implement corrective actions to improve system performance and reliability.
- Aid in the development and continuous improvement of Automine maintenance strategies and procedures.
- Cook up with operations, planning, and OEM representatives (e.g., Sandvik) to ensure system performance and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, faults, and system performance.
- Support training and mentoring of electricians on Automine systems where appropriate.
- Ensure planned maintenance is carried out as per maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all required tools, spares, and diagnostic equipment are available and in working condition.
- Must be able to work overtime, shift rotations, weekends, and respond to critical breakdowns as required.
Qualifications
- Preferred University, college and/or trade school additional training in automation systems (preferred).
- Minimum 3 years’ electrician experience in an underground mining environment.
- Experience working with automated or remote-controlled mining systems (preferred).
- Experience with PLC systems, communication networks, and mobile equipment electrical systems (preferred).
- Must possess a current State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
- Proficient in use of computers and maintenance software systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, PLCs, and communication networks.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and automation system layouts.
- Knowledge of Automine systems or similar automation platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in complex control systems.
- Understanding of applicable electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Ability to perform safe and timely emergency repairs on critical systems.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with operations and technical teams.
- NFPA70E certification required (based on site).
