About the role
As a global leader in coating technology, we develop and produce innovative solutions for DIY, trades, and industry. We are seeking an Automation Technician / Commissioning Specialist to prepare and carry out the commissioning of our systems, machines, and robotic systems, including the development and commissioning of retrofit packages, both in-house and on-site.
Responsibilities
- Conduct function tests, I/O checks, safety inspections, and system acceptances for coating systems.
- Handle application-specific configuration of coating systems.
- Perform root-cause analyses for complex malfunctions and incidents (After Sales), resolve issues, and adjust robot and PLC programs (Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Fanuc) as well as configurations, workarounds, or patches.
- Provide 2nd-level support to customers and field service teams.
- Create and maintain commissioning documentation and knowledge databases.
- Support system updates, deployments, and change requests.
- Develop processes, tools, and standards in support.
- Train customer personnel and assist with factory and site acceptances (FAT/SAT).
- Contribute ideas for process optimization.
Requirements
- Completed vocational training with further qualification as a technician or a degree in electrical engineering, automation technology, mechatronics, or a comparable qualification.
- Experience in commissioning, service, or technical support of automation and robotic systems (preferably Fanuc).
- Strong knowledge of control, regulation, and process control technology.
- Experience with industrial communication networks and remote diagnostic tools.
- Ideally, knowledge of IT systems (Windows, Linux), databases, or cloud-based automation solutions.
- Excellent German and English skills.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (approx. 40-50%).
- Analytical thinking, structured work approach, strong problem-solving skills, and a good understanding of technical drawings, circuit diagrams, and specifications.
