About the Opportunity

The Automation Test Engineer is responsible for evaluating software quality through automated and manual testing. This role develops and executes test plans and scripts, identifies and documents software defects, and collaborates with development and business teams to support reliable software delivery. The position contributes to federal government projects, including Department of Veterans Affairs initiatives, by ensuring software meets functional requirements and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze system specifications and requirements.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, test engineers, and managers to develop test strategies and plans.
  • Develop and execute automated test cases and analyze test results.
  • Evaluate application code and functionality against established specifications.
  • Document testing activities, defects, results, and requirement verification.
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams and track them through resolution.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and investigating software issues.
  • Conduct post-release and post-implementation testing.
  • Execute manual test scripts as needed to validate application functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain software quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Configure hardware and operating environments required for testing.
  • Maintain defect databases, testing logs, and related documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes, standards, and automation practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in automation software testing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proficiency in developing and executing automated test scripts.
  • Experience developing and maintaining comprehensive test plans.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and sprint-based testing environments.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects using tools such as Atlassian Jira.
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed test documentation and reports.
  • Experience executing manual test scripts.
  • Knowledge of Selenium testing.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with software development and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to software quality.
  • Experience supporting federal government departments; Department of Veterans Affairs experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Civilian Public Trust clearance.

Pay

  • Annual projected salary range of $76,559.55–$85,066.17.
  • Compensation will consider qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, geographic location, and other relevant factors.
