Automation Technician - (Off Shift)

About the role

Howmet Aerospace is seeking 2 Automation Techs to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. Training will occur on Day Shift (Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) for several months. This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.

Responsibilities

• Provides manufacturing support of robotic finishing and robotic manufacturing equipment.
• Reviews related manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine tasks to be performed.
• Understands robot inputs and outputs and the binary system.
• Maintains and improves reliability and productivity of robotic equipment.
• Programs and documents code for manufacturing robots.
• Acts in a leadership role as SPA for robotic equipment and process operations.
• Documents automation processes throughout the life cycle of the process.
• Participates in quality audits pertaining to automation.
• Assists in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) value and policy statement.
• Complies with all department, facility, corporate, and regulatory EHS regulations.
• Wears all required personal protective equipment.
• Reports all job-related illness and injuries.
• Reports all safety, health, and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
• Attends all EHS training.

Requirements

• Understanding of robotic arms, controllers, end-of-arm tools, electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming of various controllers and robots.
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
• Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends with little advanced notice.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position entails access to export-controlled items; employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
• Associate Degree and technical training.

Qualifications

• Preferred: 3-5 years of work experience with related job functions.
• Preferred: Yaskawa/Motorman or Fanuc robot programming training.
• Preferred: PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Preferred: Panel building and machine wiring experience.
• Preferred: Schematic and blueprint reading experience.

Pay

Anticipated pay range: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour. Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, and certifications.

Schedule

Midnight shift: Sunday night to Thursday night, 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM.
