About the role
The Automation Technician will maintain and troubleshoot automated systems and equipment within our manufacturing plant, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency of production processes.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and software issues in automated systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize automation processes.
- Maintain automated machinery and control systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on automated equipment.
- Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records of repairs and modifications.
- Train and support production staff on the operation of automated systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all automation activities.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in automation technology.
- Actively support production, resolving issues as they arise, to minimize downtime.
- Support the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
- Assist with development of specifications, new tools, processes, and training procedures.
- Utilize disciplined problem-solving techniques to determine root cause analysis for equipment downtime and customer complaints, and develop permanent corrective actions.
- Champion scrap reduction activities in assigned area of responsibility.
- Support, contribute, and demonstrate lean manufacturing principles in work area.
- Continuously work toward achieving goals and measurables of the facility.
- Comply with policies, procedures, and facility standards in ISO14001, ISO45001, and IATF 16949, including safety and environmental guidelines.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as an Automation Technician or similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Ability to analyze equipment and processes in an industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, robotics, and control systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with industrial networking protocols and systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
Work Environment
- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on the manufacturing floor.
- Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury.
