About the role
Apprenticely is helping Virco hire an Automation Technician Apprentice in Conway, AR.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of new automation technologies for manufacturing processes or to improve existing technologies.
- Assists in the installation, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repair of industrial control systems, such as PLC’s or other computerized process control systems including those that monitor and regulate operations or machinery.
- Assists in the installation and repair of electrical components such as motors, switches, relays or sensors.
- Help to maintain smooth operation of automated systems, assist manufacturing technical support technicians when needed to help guide troubleshooting of down equipment.
- Aids in the modification of automated PLCs, programs, and equipment to improve performance and meet new project needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power technologies and repair.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Entry mechanical aptitude and communication skills.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office for E-mail, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to efficiently use Windows based computers and perform basic networking tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience utilizing CMMS software such as SAP, EQUIPAC, etc.
- Ability to read and understand electrical wiring diagrams and industrial control systems.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds from knee to waist level.
- Occasionally pushes and/or pulls up to 50 pounds using some type of moving equipment.
- Frequently bends and stoops.
- Frequently walks throughout the 8 to 10 hours of the shift.
- Must be able to withstand 8 to 10 hours standing on a concrete surface.
- Occasionally climbs up the ladder.
- Will occasionally be exposed to chemicals, dust, heat, cold, gas, and/or fumes.
- Must be able to adjust to normal plant environmental conditions (above moderate heat and cold) and to adapt quickly to physical applications requiring varying motor skills.
