ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operate and monitor automated machinery and equipment to ensure efficient production processes.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on automation systems to prevent unexpected breakdowns and delays.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems with automation equipment, taking prompt action to resolve issues or coordinate repairs with maintenance teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance tasks, and any required repairs.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and engineering teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Aid in the installation and setup of new automation systems, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Replenish materials and supplies used by the automation equipment to support uninterrupted production operations.
  • Provide training and support to other team members on the proper use and handling of automation equipment.

Safety Compliance

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards to maintain a safe work environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience/Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in automation, engineering, or related field is a plus. 1-3 years proven experience in the operation and maintenance of automation equipment.
  • Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and safety. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to address technical issues effectively. Knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and basic understanding of automation controls is desirable. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Follow OSHA requirements and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Identify unsafe conditions and maintain a safe work area. Use authorized powered industrial equipment when required. Travel Requirements (if any): Extensive travel to the corporate office in California may be required in the first few months for training purposes. Office Hours/Location: This position is based in Rocky Mount, VA and is onsite Monday through Friday supporting a three-shift operation. Remote candidates will not be considered for this role.
  • Physical/Mental Requirements: Frequently stand and walk for extended periods during a 10–12 hour shift. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with heavier items requiring team lifting or mechanical assistance. Frequently bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. Reach overhead and work from elevated platforms or lifts. Perform repetitive hand and finger movements using tools and diagnostic equipment. Distinguish colors for electrical wiring and indicator lights. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed footwear, and other equipment as required.
