About the role
We are seeking an Automation Service Engineer I/II, Oncology to provide service support to the laboratory operations team and to be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment utilized. This position requires a candidate that is strong in root cause analysis, application support and repair of equipment commonly used in the Next Generation Sequencing workflow.
Responsibilities
- Provide service, support, and troubleshooting for automated processes and instrumentation.
- Perform and coordinate maintenance work on laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and problem solving on lab instruments.
- Carry out Installation, Operational, and Process Qualifications on new equipment as necessary.
- Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- EFFECTIVELY coordinate with vendors as required for equipment issues.
- Maintain equipment parts inventory and well-organized equipment records.
- Prepare documentation as needed for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Propose and design plans for process improvements.
- Represent the equipment and automation teams in cross-functional meetings.
- Undertake special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- BS degree in a scientific discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, preferably high-throughput molecular biology equipment, especially liquid handlers.
- Strong customer focused service experience.
- Ability to engage in constructive dialogue, challenge concerns and maintain transparency.
- Proficiency in problem-solving with limited direction and making confident decisions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Solid understanding of statistical analyses relevant to automated lab processes.
- Strong multi-tasking ability with a focus on prioritization.
- Experience in troubleshooting complex scripts is an added advantage.
- Experience working in a CLIA or similar regulated environment is preferred.
- Able to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
- Drive for continual improvement.
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with Molecular Biology techniques, including next generation sequencing.
- Experience with data science / data engineering in an automated laboratory environment.
- Experience developing training programs and performing knowledge transfer.
