Key Responsibilities

• Test Planning & Strategy
• Design comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts covering: weather sync and sensor ingestion pipelines, rating service APIs, identifier mapping workflows, configuration management, administration UI, EMS/SCADA API contract validation, and on-premises provisioning and update workflows.
• Analyze requirements and user stories to identify test scenarios and acceptance criteria across all deployment models.
• Define and maintain a test strategy that accounts for cloud-agnostic deployment: tests must validate behavior on AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises Kubernetes (RHEL/K8s) targets.
• Participate in estimation, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.

Manual & Automated Testing

• Perform functional, integration, regression, negative, and compatibility testing across all layers of the platform.
• Develop automated test suites using frameworks such as PyTest (backend), Jest/React Testing Library (frontend), and API testing tools (Postman, Swagger).
• Validate system behavior under load, including sensor data throughput, continuous forecast ingestion, and concurrent multi-tenant operations.
• Test microservice interactions, shared component packages, and cross-service API contracts.
• Validate on-premises deployment workflows: server imaging, RS-1 provisioning, patch/update cycles, and air-gapped network scenarios.

ISO Compliance & Security Testing

• Implement test coverage aligned with ISO 27001:2022 controls and NERC-CIP compliance requirements.
• Validate audit logging, authentication/authorization flows, encryption at rest and in transit, and access control mechanisms.
• Document test evidence for compliance audits and regulatory reviews.
• Contribute to security testing practices including vulnerability scanning, penetration test validation, and secure coding review.

Defect Identification & Quality Tracking

• Identify, document, and track defects using Jira or equivalent issue-tracking tools.
• Verify fixes, rerun regression test suites, and validate readiness for deployment.
• Provide detailed defect reports including logs, reproduction steps, environment details, and screenshots.

Environment & Test Data Management

• Configure, maintain, and version test environments across Docker, Kubernetes staging (EKS, on-prem K8s), and cloud-specific test targets.
• Create and manage test datasets, sensor data simulations, and operator profiles for multi-deployment validation.
• Collaborate with DevOps to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Pulumi-managed infrastructure, container-based deployments).

Quality Metrics & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor quality metrics: defect density, test execution coverage, regression stability, automation pass rate, and deployment success rates across environments.
• Recommend improvements to testing processes, toolchains, and team workflows.
• Stay current with modern testing tools, frameworks, and best practices for cloud-native and multi-deployment architectures.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong experience designing and executing manual test cases across full-stack web applications.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks: PyTest for Python backend services, Jest or React Testing Library for frontend, and API testing tools (Postman, Swagger).
• Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL) and ability to validate data at rest and in transit.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
• Experience with version control systems, especially Git.
• Ability to read logs, inspect HTTP traffic, and debug distributed microservice systems.
• Experience testing applications across multiple environments or deployment targets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing cloud-agnostic or multi-cloud applications.
• Experience with compliance-driven testing (ISO 27001, NERC-CIP, SOC 2, or similar frameworks).
• Experience in utility, OT systems, or industrial IoT testing (EMS/SCADA integration).
• Background in performance engineering or load testing at scale.
• Familiarity with Pulumi, Helm, or Terraform-managed test environments.
• Experience testing on-premises or edge-device deployments.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
