About the role

CVS Health, a Fortune 4 company, is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician to join the Pharmacy Maintenance Team in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will maintain and troubleshoot the pharmacy’s automated systems, ensuring optimal performance and resolving technical issues to meet production goals and quality expectations. Your work will directly impact the lives of thousands of patients who rely on the critical medications dispensed by this facility.

Starting pay for this role is $36/hour with opportunities to advance in as soon as 6 months (based on skill level). This is a full-time position with guaranteed 40 hours per week and premium pay for consistent weekends or company holidays worked. Tools are provided by CVS Health upon training—no requirement to provide your own.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain automation robotics, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems in a sophisticated automated large-volume pharmaceutical dispensing facility.
• Conduct routine inspections of machines and systems to ensure optimal performance, including troubleshooting electro-mechanical control systems and supporting Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based control systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, notify the Manager of any concerns regarding major repairs or additional equipment needs, and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Participate in training programs to stay updated on new technologies and procedures.

Requirements

• Comfort with physical labor, including:
  • Crawling under conveyors and working in confined spaces.
  • Lifting 60 lbs without assistance.
  • Climbing ladders and industrial platforms.
  • Working in aerial lifts.
  • Walking and being on feet for 90% of the shift.
  • Working with dirty equipment during preventative maintenance.
• 3+ years of risk assessment skills, including the ability to understand a process and determine how a change can affect that process.
• 3+ years of project management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• 3+ years of performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) on automated manufacturing equipment and utilizing LOTO procedures.
• 3+ years of troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining automated equipment controlled by Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• 3+ years of mechanical and pneumatic repairs in an automation environment.
• 3+ years of electrical schematic and print reading, as well as voltmeter usage (24v – 480v).
• Verifiable High School diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medical, fulfillment center, warehouse, or healthcare environments.
• Experience working with automation robots (ABB, Fanuc).
• Experience working in a regulated environment (ISO 9000, ISO 13485, FDA, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Device).
• A craft certification or other Mechatronics-related certification/training.
• Experience using Manager Plus system “Work Order Dashboard” or parts management.

Schedule

Tuesday - Friday: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Saturday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Pay

Starting pay is $36/hour. The typical pay range for this role is $21.10 - $44.99/hour, depending on experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay.
