Automation Maintenance Technician
About the Role
Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain with its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform. The Automation Maintenance Technician will repair and calibrate automated and robotic systems, including Symbotic’s Automated Adapters, Vertical Lifts, and fleet of automated robotic vehicles.
The Automation Maintenance Technician I is part of the Customer Operations organization, responsible for leading day-to-day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material handling system. The Customer Operations organization drives operational excellence by engaging and partnering with onsite customers to drive best-in-class quality, safety, and system performance.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety commitments are met daily in compliance with OSHA, Symbotic, and customer processes and procedures.
- Perform inspections on systems associated with Automated Storage and Retrieval System of automated robotic vehicles and Automated Adapters/Lifts.
- Support continuous operation by adjusting, calibrating, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components.
- Process and monitor the flow of the automated storage and retrieval system to achieve maximum throughput and cases per hour.
- Troubleshoot automated robotic vehicle anomalies and stoppages using schematic and wiring diagrams as well as advanced test equipment.
- Perform periodic system inspections and document all actions and repairs.
- Ensure quality maintenance and complete documentation via the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Communicate production-impacting problems and suggested actions to required team members.
- Operate and run Automated systems, and perform minor utility work such as machining holes, brackets, cutting steel, and aligning sensors.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S policies.
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent experience/certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or equivalent field preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience with mechanical automation systems or educational/training equivalent.
- Strong electro-mechanical skills.
- Ability to maintain required productivity/work expectations and work independently.
- Ability to multi-task and perform multiple job functions at once.
- Demonstrates commitment and ability to work safely.
- Reliable and maintains satisfactory attendance.
- Proficient in performing all Inspection functions and producing quality work.
- A high sense of urgency and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
Work Environment
Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required. The work environment involves steep stairs, high railings, and temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit. Frequent ability to safely and efficiently lift items weighing up to 50lbs and move items weighing up to 80lbs. Must be capable of working at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches.
Pay and Benefits
The base range for this position is $20.00 - $29.00, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO, and/or other benefits.
