Automation Maintenance Lead

About the role

NewCold is growing rapidly, and we have an excellent opportunity for an Automation Maintenance Lead to supervise the maintenance and sanitation team, ensuring service aligns with technical requirements. This role involves preventative maintenance and repairs of all relevant equipment on site to ensure effective warehouse operations, utilizing Fiix (our CMMS software). You will direct and lead the maintenance team’s daily functions, conduct training, and foster a professional culture committed to Health & Safety in line with company values.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all equipment (conveyors, cranes, cooling systems, fire protection, freeze doors, oxygen reduction, and other installations) is used and maintained according to supplier guidelines.
• Create and plan Preventative Maintenance tasks or repairs to be carried out in a timely and safe manner, minimizing disruption to operations.
• Work within budgeted guidelines and achieve agreed KPIs.
• Follow the maintenance plan efficiently to ensure minimal operational impact while meeting supplier guidelines.
• Direct and lead the sanitation team to maintain site cleanliness and appearance.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and on time.
• Collaborate with equipment suppliers and/or contractors to ensure proper training of maintenance technicians.
• Complete internal reporting and communication as required by the Site Manager.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of all equipment and contracts on site, including cooling systems, oxygen reduction, and doors.
• Commit to ongoing self and team development through internal and external resources.
• Meet the physical demands of the Maintenance and Operator team roles.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 8-10+ years of maintenance experience.
• 1-2 years of team lead or supervision experience.
• Strong knowledge of troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of automated machinery (conveyors, automated cranes, palletizers, trolleys).
• Electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical knowledge.
• Knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens).

Qualifications

Associate’s degree preferred but not required.
