We are seeking an Automation Lead to ensure the operational availability and reliability of our Automated System. This hands-on, physically demanding role requires collaboration with the Equipment Engineer to optimize performance, minimize downtime, and troubleshoot system issues in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
- Align coverage for breaks and lunches for automation specialists on shift to ensure no gaps in automation.
- Train backups to conduct processes that align with the Statement of Work (SOW).
- Escalate issues to maintenance as assigned in the SOW.
- Track automation downtime to monitor technician response times to faults.
- Respond to system alarms and errors, performing corrective maintenance and initial repairs to minimize production impact.
- Manually override or complete jobs the unit failed to finish.
- Track issues and repairs, utilizing the escalation process as needed.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with navigation, control systems, and communication networks.
- Work with cross-functional teams—including production, maintenance, and engineering—to resolve issues and improve system performance.
- Utilize advanced computer skills to access and analyze system data, perform software updates, and configure system settings.
- Collaborate with the Equipment Engineer to optimize routes, improve efficiency, and reduce downtime.
- May be required to perform other warehouse functions as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience working with automated systems, material handling equipment, or similar technologies.
- Ability to read, perform basic mathematics, and follow written and verbal instructions in English for safety, work instructions, and policies.
- Experience inputting data into computer systems.
- Willingness to work overtime as assigned.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized with excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Self-driven with the flexibility to excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-up practices.
- Preferred: Experience operating manual and/or automated warehouse/manufacturing equipment (e.g., packaging lines) at an intermediate level.
- Preferred: Experience operating forklifts or other warehouse machinery.
Skills
- Strong technical background in electrical, mechanical, and software systems, with experience troubleshooting and repairing complex systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
- Advanced computer skills, including experience with system software, programming languages, and data analysis tools.
- Physical ability to perform demanding work for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day).
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours daily, including over varied and uneven terrain.
- Frequent and repetitive lifting, pushing, and carrying of up to 35 lbs, including carrying 20 lbs up and down stairs.
- Frequent and repetitive bending, lifting, reaching, stooping, laying, squatting, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and crawling for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day).
